THIRD LARGEST OCEAN IN THE WORLD(INDIAN OCEAN)

The 3rd largest ocean in the world is the Indian Ocean. It covers an area of approximately 70.56   million   square kilometers and is bounded by the African continent to the west, the Asian continent to   the north,   Australia to the east, and the Southern Ocean to the south.

The Indian Ocean is home to numerous islands, including the Maldives, Seychelles, Comoros, Madagascar, and Sri Lanka. The ocean is connected to the Atlantic Ocean by the passage around the Cape of Good Hope in South Africa and to the Pacific Ocean by the Indonesian archipelago.

The Indian Ocean is known for its warm waters and rich marine biodiversity, including coral reefs, sea turtles, sharks, dolphins, and whales. It also has several major ports and shipping lanes, making it an important economic and strategic region.

The ocean is subject to various weather patterns, including monsoons, cyclones, and tropical storms. The Indian Ocean also experiences ocean currents, such as the Agulhas Current, the Somali Current, and the South Equatorial Current. The ocean floor of the Indian Ocean is relatively shallow in the north and deeper in the south, with the Java Trench being the deepest point at approximately 7,450 meters below sea level
